For most families, August means shopping for backpacks, buying school supplies, and preparing children for another year of learning.

For the families of HOPE for Single Moms, it means something even bigger.

It means another semester of college. Another opportunity to earn a degree. Another step toward a living-wage career. Another chance to transform the future of an entire family.

This August, we’re celebrating four remarkable College & Trades families who are pursuing that dream:

  •  Nekia & Aily (10)
  • Tianna & Aurora (3)
  • Sasha & Luca (5)
  • Catina & Chosen (3)

Throughout August, we’ll introduce you to each of these incredible families, sharing their stories, dreams, accomplishments, and the barriers they’re working hard to overcome. We hope you’ll follow along as we celebrate their courage and invite you to be part of their journey.

While their children prepare for school, these moms are preparing for college classes, purchasing textbooks, arranging childcare, commuting to campus, and balancing work, parenting, and education. Every semester requires determination—and every semester brings new financial challenges.

That’s why we’re inviting our community to help remove those barriers.

Our August Goal: $3,200

Help Four Families Start the Semester Strong

📚 Textbooks — $1,600 :  Each of our four student moms needs approximately two digital textbook rentals, averaging $200 per textbook.
⛽ Gas Cards — $800 : Reliable transportation means getting to class, work, clinicals, and childcare. Our goal is to provide each mom with a $50 gas card each month throughout the four-month semester.
🎒 Back-to-School Essentials — $400 : Help provide clothing, shoes, backpacks, lunch boxes, and school supplies for four children as they begin another school year.
🥫 Stock the Pantry — $400 : A stocked pantry means one less worry for a busy student mom. Shelf-stable groceries and household essentials provide peace of mind and allow these families to focus on education instead of wondering how they’ll stretch the grocery budget. Our Stock the Pantry list includes everyday staples such as pasta, rice, canned vegetables, beans, peanut butter, soups, and other family favorites.

How You Can Help

Whether you purchase pantry items, donate school supplies, give a gift card, or make a financial contribution, every gift removes barriers and creates opportunity.

When you invest in a single mother, you’re investing in two generations.

Together, we’re helping four determined moms continue building brighter futures for themselves and their children—one semester, one opportunity, and one family at a time.
