What is keeping you busy in your life?
My mom died a few months ago. I think when someone we know dies, it causes us to take a step back and re-evaluate our own lives. At least for me it did. Am I going through the motions of living? Or, am I living life intentionally?
It’s so easy to go day after day without thinking. There is much to do. With six children the volume of noise and volume of food and volume of laundry were, well…never-ending. Or, so it seemed. I was just trying to maintain.
And what happens when our children grow- up and leave? Are we lost for meaning and direction in our lives? We can add a lot of things to our ‘To do’ list. And there are a lot of good things to do. But what is the best thing to do? What has God called you to do? What has He given you a
passion for?
It may come as a surprise, but God called me to expand our family.
Oh, I don’t mean have more babies or adopt children. At least not in the way you’re thinking. Every single mom I meet is an opportunity to expand my family. It is a young woman in search of love, in need of hope, looking for guidance, looking for understanding, looking to vent,
looking for someone TO LISTEN, TO CARE.
Have you thought of listening as a ministry? It is, you know. A very powerful ministry. You don’t need to have all the answers. Can you make a phone call and listen? Can you get a phone call and listen? Does your heart have room for one more child?
