Our goal at Hope for Single Moms is to help empower women. In honor of Women’s History month, we have created a new resource to help you create a better life and future for you and your children. “Dream It, Scheme It” is a guide to setting and achieving your goals. We’ve included 12 worksheets to help you do just that.

Goal planning is the compass that guides you through the journey of life, helping you navigate toward your dreams and aspirations. It’s the process of defining what you want to achieve and then outlining the steps to get there. Just like you plan a trip—

  • picking with your destination (goal),
  • setting dates (timeline),
  • how you will get there (steps & strategy) and
  • what you’ll need (resources) –

the same is true for your success story. Without a plan, the storms of life, the unpredictable that causes chaos, get you off your journey! But the plan is here to help you get back on track of creating your success story!

Goal planning turns dreams into actions. It transforms ambitions and dreams you may not think you can achieve into manageable tasks. It breaks down what seems to be an insurmountable distance between where you’re at and where you want to be. Whether your goal is launching a new career (and maybe going back to school to do that), starting a business, achieving financial freedom, improving personal well-being and/or having children who thrive, effective goal planning is the bridge that spans the gap between vision and reality.

One of the most important parts of goal planning is clarity. Hope for Single Moms has developed a guide with worksheets to help you evaluate where you are in every aspect of your life. From that, you can decide what you want to change. Worksheets not only help you evaluate, but also goals, and then decide how you’re going to get there.

Goal planning also involves strategizing. Analyze the resources you have, identify potential obstacles, and develop strategies to overcome them. This increases the likelihood of you being successful and empowers you to better adjust as life happens and circumstances change.

Goal planning also fosters accountability. By setting milestones (goals) and deadlines (a timeline), you can keep track of your progress and hold yourself accountable to get there. It shouldn’t be a stressor.

Sharing your goals with a trusted friend (or set goals together and ask each other how you’re doing) or with a mentor can provide support and encouragement along the way.

It’s equally important to be flexible in the face of unexpected challenges or opportunities. Being willing to reassess and adjust your strategies allows you to stay responsive in pursuing your goals.

Goal setting is hard. It takes time. You’ll probably get frustrated. Take a break! It’s not something you do in a day or a week. Take your time. Think about a goal and what is a reasonable timetable for you!!

Embrace the journey! This is your dream, your journey on your timeline. The journey is about the growth, learning, and transformation that occur as you strive toward your goals. Each step taken, each obstacle overcome, and each success achieved is a testament to your resilience, determination, and commitment to living a life of purpose and fulfillment.

So, dare to dream, plan with passion, and embark on the adventure of turning your aspirations into reality.
